Navajo County Democrats Support Wolves
A number of Navajo County Democrats attended a U.S. Fish & Wildlife hearing at HonDah on Dec. 2 to support the wolves.
Despite 15 years of effort, only 75 wolves are living in the wild in the Southwest.
Because of the success of Gray Wolves in northern states, the agency has decided to remove them from the Endangered Species List.
The agency is proposing that the Mexican Gray Wolves in the Southwest remain protected as a separate subspecies.
Conservationists support that move, but want the agency to classify the Southwest wolves as “essential” and also extend their range to the Mexican Border as well as north to the Grand Canyon.
Comments can be submitted online until Dec. 17. Go to www.regulations.gov and find document FWS-R2-ES-2013-0056.
Say something in support of the wolves. It would be good to mention you support the continued protection of the subspecies, want them considered “essential” and support the expansion of their territory.
