Kirkpatrick Issues Statement on Phoenix VA Hospital
Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick issues the following statement:
“In light of today’s Arizona Republic story, I want to strongly reinforce that anyone – employees, patients or others – with information that gets us closer to the facts with the Phoenix VA allegations should come forward. As a former prosecutor, I would add that if anyone is hiding information or destroying documents, they will be exposed and held accountable. Delayed care is denied care, and in many cases these are life and death matters for our veterans. We will get to the bottom of this.”
Kirkpatrick is Arizona’s representative on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and is the Ranking Member of its Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Earlier this week, she and the subcommittee chairman, Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Colo., formally announced that their committee will hold hearings on the Phoenix VA allegations after the Office of Inspector General completes its investigation. Here are links to Kirkpatrick’s initial statement on the Phoenix VA allegations, her April 10 letter to VA Secretary Shinseki, and her recent 12 News interview on this topic.
